Global Warming!!!
Global Warming is a serious problem that no one seems to be paying any mind to. The problem is, despite the warnings of the horrible results we’ll be facing if we don’t act now, people still choose to remain oblivious and ignore facts that are staring them right in the face. An example? Well for starters, disease will become a problem that occurs much more often. A mosquito’s favorite living area is in drains and sewer puddles. When faced with a long dry spell these “living quarters” become a source of water for birds and the birds become a source of blood for the mosquitoes. Considering Global Warming is kind of like one giant dry spell, we’re in a bit of a mess there. As well as that, as Global Warming takes effect on northern countries, the aforementioned mosquitoes and some other plague carrying insects migrate south taking disease with them. Besides mosquitoes, another thing you’ll start seeing more of is poison ivy. With the increasing of CO2 levels comes the increasing of this poisonous plant causing these and other weeds such as dandelions to thrive. Another thing to worry about is jellyfish and even poisonous squid. Jellyfish normally stay out of the way of swimmers but (thanks again global warming) due to the abrupt climate change, the offshore waters become more saline and so the jellyfish take a trip further towards the shore (ie: towards you). Besides the bad animals, many good animals are in danger. The koala bear’s only source of food, eucalyptus, will lose the nutrition value necessary to a koala bear’s survival due to high CO2 in the atmosphere. Global warming has also extended the cat-breeding season beyond spring when cats are usually expecting causing more stray kittens who usually end up in shelters or starve to death. Once again, way to go Global Warming. Lemmings, who like to burrow under the snow when they hibernate during winter time will also be effected and once again (surprise surprise) not in a good way. The higher temperature will cause rain to fall during the winter months trapping the lemmings under a sheet of ice and suffocating them. Besides animals the most important thing is what Global Warming is doing to this planet. For one thing, if this isn’t bad enough for you already, grass has started to sprout in Antarctica in areas formerly covered by thick sheets of ice. The oceans are also effected. Oceans absorb CO2 (which global warming will increase) and when this and sea water mix together a carbonic acid is created. Oh and according to the U.N. one of our most treasured and beautiful phenomenon’s of nature, The Great Barrier Reef, will disappear as the, now acidic, waters could badly bleach the coral reef. We can also expect; more floods, more fires, random volcanic eruptions from non-active volcanoes, more hurricanes, more severe thunder storms, lakes suddenly drying up, the melting of the polar ice caps and maybe even a new dust bowl. And so, so much more. If this is what you want life to be like for your children and their children after then fine, thanks for the help but every person makes a difference if they bother to do so.
